walk before you run
An easy treadmill workout that targets the hardest aspect of making running enjoyable: the awkward transition from a walk to a jog. Walking and running are essentially the same exercise at different speed, but because of the mechanics change (actually leaving the ground), the transition takes some getting used to to keep it in zone 2. So here’s a method I used in my transition from walking to jogging.
For anyone using a bike or elliptical, the intervals are:
slow walk high incline = high resistance, low cadence
fast walk lower incline = moderate resistance, moderate cadence
jog = low resistance, high cadence
